ARTIST
Nancy works on her multi-media abstracts with a very physical execution.
Each piece is approached without preconceived ideas, other than recalling the place from which we came and where we return.
Nancy initially graduated as an actress from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 1977; she took to the stage professionally before embarking upon a successful career as a singer/songwriter, signing to EMI in the early 1980s.
On moving to Devon some years ago, Nancy immersed herself in her passion for fine art, following in the footsteps of her great-great grandfather, Arthur Langley Vernon RA, and her father, the TV and radio presenter Bob Holness; A talented caricaturist who studied at Maidstone College of Art
Her early, more figurative work, draws heavily on memories of her childhood in Africa where she was born in 1956.
In 2000, Nancy started working on large abstract canvasses. Nancy continues to work prolifically, both as a visual artist and a singer/songwriter from her home in Oxford.
