Nancy Nova
Nancy started her career at the age of fourteen playing guitar and singing in clubs in North London. She joined the National Youth Theatre at eighteen, then studied for three years at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Whilst there she continued with her singing and songwriting & took time out to tour Europe, record with and write for, the EMI artist Jesse Green.
Nancy then had her first chart success as a writer for Jesse Green and her first Top Of The Pops appearance. She also wrote songs and sang on albums for artists as disparate as Cleo Laine, Lena Zavaroni & AC/DC.
After working in theatre and television for a while Nancy committed herself full time to her recording career, signing to Ritz Records. She made a name for herself in Europe fronting a TV show for two months in Italy and appearing on Radio and TV promoting her album. These shows can still be viewed on YouTube.
Back in the UK she received massive radio play for her single,The Force, which became a huge disco hit. During this time she toured extensively in Britain, Holland, France and Belgium.
Siouxsie Sioux talked on BBC Radio 6 about seeing Nancy’s performance in Heaven & how she was influenced by her. Kenny Everett also caught the that show & gave The Force regular air play.
She and four other female vocalists formed the group Toto Coelo but Nancy left the band to sign a world wide contract with EMI where she had more successes as a writer and artist.
Nancy then took a break from public appearances, moving to a farm in Devon & raising a Family. She continued writing & recording with her Husband & Producer, King Bones and eventually sold the Farm to the Artist Damien Hirst & moved back to London .
Her highly acclaimed Album The Force was re-pressed & re-released, due to demand from Fans new & old.
King Bones sadly died a few years ago & the last two Albums Nancy & he collaborated on, were never released.
Nancy has now decided to release Tour De Force. An Album of self penned songs, some brand new & some newly recorded numbers from the past, including the Singles Made In Japan, Lifeline, Heaven & of course The Force.
TDF also includes cover versions of The Winner Takes It All & a track causing much excitement on the air waves, Wuthering Heights.
